Yay! We did our victory dance down at the kennels this morning when Niles and Jordan tied. This means we don't have to pay for artificial insemination today. Before putting the two together I went out with Jordan for a long walk/run to wear her down a bit. She can be a bit overbearing and excitable in the heat of passion.

In the afterglow, a more relaxed Niles Winston
So after a 30 minute work-out Jordan was fairly cooperative and without any ceremony they were locked within a few minutes and remained that way for about 20. Soon after the climactic moment Niles was able to lift one leg over her back and turn so they stood tail to tail. It's interesting how during that period of the tie these two feisty, rambunctious doggies resolve themselves to their captivity and just stand there looking at the scenery and waiting it out.
Niles gets tomorrow off and then Saturday morning we'll try again and if there's no tie we're off to the vet again for A.I. Which I hope we don't have to do as we have other important plans for that afternoon. We have monitored different hormones and their levels and other physical indicators and it looks like we have the timing just right but I think the Lord opens and closes a doggie's womb. We are praying He will bless us as He did Jacob with his flocks and herds.
