Frequent runs from garden or orchard with an overflowing basket of produce means it's time to steam up the homestead kitchen and start canning. Whether you’re putting up your own spaghetti sauce, cream of tomato soup, salsa, carrots, corn, pickles, green beans, jellies, jams, or preserves, this is certainly a continuing tradition of our homestead heritage. But, putting up the harvest also provides the homestead with an affordable year round source of organic produce. It is a homemaking celebration of hard work and divine blessing.
